Picadillo: Cuban Style Hash
Olive oil for frying
1 large onion, diced
1 large green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 pounds ground beef or ground round
3 tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 cup green olives chopped (optional) or 1/4 cup capers (optional)
1/3 cup raisins (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste

Sauté onion, green pepper, and garlic in a large frying pan.

Fry until onions are softened, then add the ground beef.

Mash ingredients into the frying meat.

Add the tomatoes, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, and oregano and cover.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes.

Add olives and raisins and simmer 5 minutes longer.

Salt and pepper to taste.
